GUALA CLOSURES GROUP - Climate Declaration of aluminium wine cap
2007 - Climate Declaration of aluminium wine cap
In 2007, Guala Closures Group (GUALA, Italy) started to apply Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology to the production of aluminium stoppers; this starting activity was addressed to the development of a Climate Declaration according to the Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) International System of a specific wine cap called “DIVINUM 30x60”.
In this context, a Climate Declaration represents the Carbon Footprint or the overall amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (methane, etc.) associated with a product, along its supply-chain and including the use phase and the end-of-life recovery and disposal. In other words, hence, a carbon footprint is a LCA with the analysis limited to emissions that have an effect on climate change.
