2003 - LCA and eco-design of high speed filling machines for liquid food
Starting from 2003, the Tetra Pak business area (based in Italy and Sweden) specialized in the production of aseptic filling machines for liquid food, has commissioned different LCA studies on manufacturing, use and production phases of some filling machines (Tetra Pak “A3/Speed”, “A3/Flex”, "C3/Flex"). The goal is to quantify the environmental burden of these machines and to propose sustainable-design practices for improvements. The study results have been also used for EPD purposes (www.environdec.com). Other activities included company seminars on life-cycle thinking and the application of the greenhouse protocol (GHG Protocol) to some sites for carbon management
